Protesters urge release of Tucson student in danger of deportationPosted: Updated:
TUCSON, Ariz. -- Protesters gathered Thursday afternoon, urging the release of a Tucson student who may get deported.
About a dozen people gathered at Sixth Avenue and 22nd Street trying to get the government to release Sandra Lopez. She is an illegal immigrant who has been living in the U.S. Since she was just 3-days-old.
"Before this, if she would have known about the Dream Act, she probably would of had more help and more motivation to do good things. She's just stuck, she didn't know what to do, how to start, how to get her citizenship." said a friend of Sandra Lopez, Maritza Vargas.
Lopez graduated high school in Tucson and is a perfect candidate for the Dream Act, if it ever passes Congress.
