Mary Helen Maley, Circles of Peace, says in 2006, domestic violence accounted for more than fifty percent of female homicides in Arizona.  She says Circles of Peace has been successfully treating families affected by domestic violence as well as mobilizing the community into action around this issue. She says “Peacemaking Circles” are meetings held every week for 26-52 weeks with the family, support people, community members and a trained facilitator. She says the objective is to offer innovative treatment options that contribute to ending the cycle of abuse for individuals, families and communities.
