Flash flood watch for Northern, Eastern ArizonaPosted: Updated:
PHOENIX -- Drier air moving into Arizona means a short break from the monsoon for the Valley.
However, very moist air sitting over Northern Arizona means that part of the state could see heavy rain, even potential flash floods. The National Weather Service issued a flash flood watch for Northern and Eastern Arizona today from 10 a.m. until this evening.
Drier air sits over Western Arizona, so the Valley has only a slight chance of seeing thunderstorms this today and tonight. Storms will be limited to the high country Wednesday and Thursday, too. Storm chances return to the Valley forecast Friday and into the weekend.
Today, look for Valley temperatures to peak near 103 degrees under partly sunny skies. Overnight lows are expected to drop to the upper 70s and low 80s.
