Driver dies after crashing into parked carsPosted: Updated:
SURPRISE, Ariz. - A man traveling at a high rate of speed crashed into several parked cars and later died from his injuries.
On Saturday around 5 p.m., police responded to a vehicle collision in a shopping center parking lot near Grand and Peoria avenues.
Witnesses told officers a black 2006 Porsche Cayenne SUV was traveling at a high rate of speed when the car collided into several parked cars in front of three occupied businesses.
The driver, Ajaz Rahaman, 42, of Peoria, was later pronounced dead at the hospital.
A second victim was injured when Rahaman's SUV struck his 2003 Toyota pickup, while he was loading groceries.
He was transported to Del E. Webb Hospital for treatment of his injuries and is in stable condition.
The cause of the collision is currently under investigation.
