5 Injured in early morning crash in N. PhoenixPosted: Updated:
PHOENIX – Five people were injured in a serious car crash that partially closed a major intersection for several hours Monday morning. It happened at about 7 a.m. at Seventh Street and Thunderbird Road.
The intersection re-opened around 2:15 p.m.
Aerial video from the Fort McDowell News Chopper showed one car on its hood and a second vehicle with major damage to the back end. The cars were in the parking lot of the AJ’s Fine Foods.
According to the Phoenix Fire Department, the upside down car was going to fast when it flipped and hit the other car.
Three of the five patients reportedly were in critical condition when they were taken to a local hospital.
No other details were immediately available.
Sgt. Trent Crump of the Phoenix Police Department said Seventh Street was closed in both directions at Thunderbird Road while they investigated. 3TV’s Gina Maravilla advised drivers to use 19th Avenue or cave Creek Road as alternates.
