Arizona unemployment up in June

TUCSON, Ariz. -- New unemployment numbers show Arizona's jobless rate jumping slightly in June.

It's now at 9.3%, up from 9.1% in May.

That's one tenth of a percent higher than the national unemployement rate.

In Tucson, the rate jumped from 8.4% to 9.1%, but those figures are deceiving because they account for school teachers who will be hired back this fall.

The seasonally-adjusted local numbers come out next week.
