Women attacked by bees while riding horses in Rio Verde

PHOENIX – Two women were attacked by a swarm of bees in Rio Verde Thursday night.

The two women, both in their 60s, were reportedly riding their horses near 136th Street and Rio Verde when they were attacked by the bees.

One of the victims was stung over 50 times. Preliminary details indicate one of the women was unconscious although it was not clear if that was the woman stung over 50 times.

The other victim was also stung several times. The second woman also suffered a fractured ankle as a result of trying to get off her horse.

Both women were taken to Thompson Peak Hospital. Their medical conditions remain unknown.
