TUSD desegregation ruling overturned

TUCSON, Ariz. -- A ruling on TUSD's desegregation efforts, overturned by a federal appeals court.

A lower court ruled in 2009 the racial balance in Tucson Unified School District no longer needs court over site, but the appeals court disagrees.

Rubin Salter represents the plaintiffs and he says TUSD still has some work to do.

"They're going to have to tackle the achievement gap that is still there , we're going to need more money poured into this system, I think the community has to realize that children are the future," said attorney Rubin Salter Jr.

The ruling reinstates the desegregation order at TUSD.
