PEORIA, Ariz. – The Peoria Police Department is asking for the public's help to locate a suspect in a home invasion.
Armed with a handgun, Donald Dean Ellis III entered a home near Cactus Road and 71st Avenue at approximately 4 a.m. Monday and held the five adults inside captive, according to police spokesman Jay Davies.
A 26-year-old woman lives in the home and another woman and three men were visiting. Davies said Ellis is known to several of the victims.
One of the men got into a physical struggle with Ellis, who fired the gun several times, missing him.
Ellis then fled from the home.
Davies said an unknown male who was outside the house fired several rounds from a shotgun at a vehicle parked in the driveway.
Ellis left the area driving a white 1997 Nissan pickup truck with an Arizona license plate of ANA7030.
He is described as a white male, 30 years old, 6 feet tall, 150 pounds with short (shaved) blond hair and blue eyes. Police released a photo of him on Wednesday.
Ellis could face multiple charges, including armed robbery, burglary in the first degree, kidnapping and aggravated assault.
