Turtle Reef opens at SeaWorldPosted: Updated:
PHOENIX and SAN DIEGO – Turtles are the stars of a new attraction a SeaWorld San Diego. The might not be as fast or as flashy as the killer whales, dolphins and seals, but they are just as interesting.
Turtle Reef allows you to dive into the world of sea turtles in ways you never thought possible. You can get an up-close-and-personal look at the sea turtles and even connect with a rescued turtle in the real world in real-time.
Tara Hitchcock chatted live via satellite with Christa Miller who was actually in the 300,000-gallon aquarium with sea turtles, letting them swim all around her as she gave us the lowdown on the new
Turtle Reef will take guests on a journey through the life cycle of sea turtles, learning about where they live, how they nest, what they eat and what threats they face. The total immersive experience also will include a game called Race for the Beach, and a touch screen map, Turtlelink, where guests can learn about sea turtle tracking and SeaWorld’s rescue efforts and conservation.
The last element of the new attraction is Riptide Rescue, a new ride just outside the aquarium, that will spin passengers in boats on a rescue mission of their own.
