Round two!Posted: Updated:
PHOENIX -- Another dust storm rolled through the Valley Monday night, bringing the evening commute to a standstill.
Outflows from thunderstorms in Pinal County picked up dirt and blew a wall of dust across Casa Grande, north over South Mountain and into the Valley. The dust wall even made it as far north as Cave Creek.
While not as tall or wide as the last dust storm, this dust cloud was estimated to be between 3,000 and 4,000 feet tall.
After the wind and dust, thunderstorms brought brief heavy rains to parts of the West Valley. Almost an inch of rain was reported near Glendale Avenue and the Loop 101. Sun City and Surprise saw 1/3 of an inch of rain.
More monsoon moisture is moving into the state from the south. That means a chance for more storms Tuesday afternoon and evening.
The high country of northern and eastern Arizona has the greatest chance of storms Tuesday.
After an afternoon high of 107 degrees, the Valley has a slight chance of more storms, too.
