Man caught selling stolen items on Craigslist

SURPRISE, Ariz. - Surprise police arrested a suspect caught selling stolen property on Craigslist.

Phoenix police learned the identity of Adam Matamoros after they were called to the area of 27th Avenue and Bell Road by a burglary victim who met the suspect after finding his stolen property on Craigslist.

At the time of his arrest, the suspect also had property in his possession that belonged to a burglary victim in Surprise.

Matamoros, 25, from Surprise, was booked in to jail by Phoenix police on charges of possession of stolen property, trafficking in stolen property and assault.

He admitted to Surprise police during an interview at the jail that he knew the property he was selling was stolen.

A search warrant on his residence uncovered numerous items of stolen property. The property recovered at the home was linked to at least 11 separate burglaries in Surprise.

Many of the stolen items were taken from unlocked vehicles and open garages.

Additional charges are pending as the investigation continues.
