PHOENIX – A 78-year-old man who had been reported missing for the second time in the past couple of months was found dead, according to the Phoenix Police Department.
According to Sgt. Trent Crump, the body of Oscar Lee Williams was discovered late Monday night in a field in the area of 43rd Avenue and Broadway Road. Crump did not say who found him.
The Maricopa County Sheriff's Office is investigating the death. It's up to the Maricopa County Medical Examiner's Officer to determine exactly how and when Williams died.
Williams, who suffered from onset dementia, was last seen Sunday morning at his apartment near Peoria and 19th avenues in Phoenix. He lived there with his wife.
This is the second time Williams had gone missing in the past few months. The first time was in May. Crump said Williams became disoriented while riding the light rail. He eventually was located in Mesa.
It's not yet known how Williams came to be in the field some 15 miles from his home.
