Monsoon storms returnPosted: Updated:
TUCSON, Ariz. -- Fox 11 neighbors were watering down their palm tree Sunday after it was struck by lightning and caught on fire. It happened at around 5:00 P.M.
The bang could be heard right outside the Fox 11 studio on North Sixth Avenue.
"My husband was telling me to let it burn, I was like no! With the wind and everything it could travel, so it kind of scared me," said a neighbor.
This was the second time lightning has struck one of these neighbors' palm trees in the past few years.
Nobody was injured.
And the monsoon storm did some damage on its way through Willcox.
Photographer Dave Brown shared some photos of storm damage. One shows some debris, what looks like part of a roof blown off a building on Haskell Avenue.
Another shows a tree branch that fell over at a Railroad Park. And another shows the roof coming off the Apple Farm Bakery, also on Haskell Ave.
