PHOENIX -- A man accused of murdering a Phoenix mother two years ago was arrested on Thursday.
His arrest was something Selina Navarro's family worried would never happen.
According to Sgt. Steve Martos with the Phoenix Police Department, the 32-year-old mother of three would routinely drop her children off at a school bus stop then go home to get ready for work.
On Oct. 26, 2009, she dropped off her children but never arrived at work.
Investigators said Navarro's ex-boyfriend, Macario Lopez, got into her apartment near Dunlap and 32nd avenues and waited for her to return from dropping off her kids. Investigators said Lopez murdered Navarro then fled to Mexico.
The family set up a Facebook page to draw attention to the murder and last week, police received a tip that Lopez was in a residence near Baseline Road and 32nd Street.
Lopez was arrested and booked on first-degree murder and burglary charges.
