Pro skateboarder Rob Dyrdek stops in the ValleyPosted: Updated:
GLENDALE, Ariz. -- Rob Dyrdek is a pro skateboarder first, but he is the epitome of using your success to your advantage. He has been successful at most of the different industries he’s entered from TV to the clothing business. He is the man behind the DC™ brand of clothing, his MTV reality show, “Rob & Big,” was a hit for three seasons. That led him to his current TV show – “Rob Dyrdek’s Fantasy Factory” -- which is very popular right now.
This is the second year Rob has brought the Street League Skateboarding™ to town. It will happen at Jobing.com Arena in Glendale this weekend. The arena has been transformed into a city-like urban concrete skate plaza with the world’s best competing for the highest stakes in skateboarding history.
Twenty-five of the top professional skateboarders will compete exclusively for a groundbreaking $1.6 million prize purse in an instant-scoring format where a fortune can come down to the final trick. Each tour stop will be broadcast live on ESPN2 with an international webcast.
Dyrdek set 21 separate Guinness World Records for skateboarding as part of his former show “Rob & Big.” Big Black also set two eating records for the show, most bananas peeled and eaten and most powdered donuts eaten in a set period of time. As I found out while interviewing Rob, he can also carry a tune. Not bad at all!
