Weekend freeway construction means big closures, restrictions

Before you head out this weekend, make a note of these Valley freeway construction projects, so you can avoid thetraffic  tie-ups and headaches. 

*Interstate 10 narrowed to two lanes in both directions between Baseline and Elliot roads from 10 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday (July 18) for overhead sign work. DETOUR: Expect heavy traffic at times. Please allow extra travel time.  Please be prepared to merge safely in work zone.
 

*State Route 143 closed in both directions near Sky Harbor Airport from 10 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday (July 18) for new ramp construction. Westbound Loop 202 exit ramp to Sky Harbor also closed. DETOUR: Drivers are encouraged to use the west end to access Sky Harbor Airport. 44th Street is alternate route on the airport's east end.  

*Westbound Loop 101 closed between 27th and 67th avenues from 10 p.m. Friday to 3 p.m. Saturday (July 16) for HOV lane construction. Both I-17 ramps to westbound Loop 101 closed. DETOUR: Westbound traffic can detour along frontage road. Please consider alternate routes to avoid slow traffic in the area.
 

*Eastbound Loop 101 narrowed to one lane at 35th Avenue from 10 p.m. Friday to 6 p.m. Saturday (July 16) and then closed between 51st and 27th avenues from 6 p.m. Saturday to 5 a.m. Monday (July 18) for HOV lane paving. DETOUR: Traffic will use frontage road. Please consider alternate routes.  

*Southbound Loop 101 ramp to eastbound Loop 202 in Chandler closed from 10 p.m. Friday to 10 a.m. Saturday (July 16) and from 9 p.m. Saturday to 10 a.m. Sunday (July 17) for HOV lane bridge work. DETOUR: Consider exiting southbound Loop 101 to eastbound Chandler Boulevard and southbound Dobson Road to connect with eastbound Loop 202.
 

*Eastbound Loop 202 ramp to northbound Loop 101 in Chandler closed from 10 p.m. Friday to 2 p.m. Sunday (July 17) for bridge work. DETOUR: Exit Loop 202 to northbound Price Road to access Loop 101.
 

*Westbound Interstate 10 narrowed to two lanes overnight between Avondale Boulevard and Dysart Road from 11:30 p.m. Saturday to 8 a.m. Sunday (July 17) for lane striping. Westbound I-10 off-ramp at Dysart Road closed. Eastbound Interstate 10 narrowed to one lane overnight between Estrella Parkway and Bullard Avenue from 9 p.m. Sunday to 4 a.m. Monday (July 18) for lane striping. Eastbound I-10 on-ramp at Litchfield Road closed.
