U of A cyberjunk collectionPosted: Updated:
TUCSON, Ariz. -- If you have some old TV's, printers, or computers sitting around collecting dust, this week there is an environmentally-friendly way to get rid of them.
The U of A Bookstores is hosting its 4th Annual Cyberjunk Collection. Just drop off your old electronic junk at the loading dock at Mountain Avenue and Campus Drive south of Speedway. They will recycle it, which is a lot better than throwing it away.
"There's a lot of toxic material inside these electronic components, like cadium, mercery, other heavy metals. so if you take it to the landfill it can actually leak out into the underground water resources stuff like that," said Mike Wang.
The cyberjunk collection takes place 10 A.M. to 4 P.M. now through Saturday. On the first day they collected 10,000 pounds of electronics, which was the busiest day the program has ever had.
