Potterheads converge on Harkins Theater in TempePosted: Updated:
TEMPE, Ariz. - The 8th and final installment of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows hits the silver screen Thursday at midnight.
Folks from all over the Valley lined up as early as 12 a.m. on Wednesday night to get their spot in line for tickets.
Security guards at the Harkins Theater in Tempe had to keep the Harry Potter fans off the Tempe Marketplace property this morning.
At 6:00 a.m., when they allowed access, hundreds of people, dressed in Harry Potter costumes, were literally running as fast as they could to secure their spot in what would be 18 hours in line!
‘Potterheads,’ as they are called, came prepared for the wait, bringing with them pillows, blow up mattresses, lawn chairs, food, and lots of water to wait out in the 100+ degree temps.
"I have done the other Harry Potter premiers," said one die hard Potter fan. "We are going put on a Harry Potter musical we created out here on the plaza while people wait. It never gets old."
Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Part 2 will be featured on all 16 screens at the Harkins at Tempe Marketplace for its release.
Every show is sold out.
Deathly Hallows, Part One broke the record for the Potter franchise’s biggest opening weekend, grossing $125 million and going on to earn $954 million worldwide, the third-highest grossing film of 2010.
