Deputy shoots Tucson man during fight

TUCSON, Ariz. -- Pima County detectives were on the scene of a shooting Wednesday night where deputy shot a man during a fight.

According to the Sheriff's office, deputies were called out to help with a house fire in the 6200 block of West Huxley Drive in Tucson Estates.  While sheriff's deputies were engaged in evacuations the sergeant on scene became engaged in a fight with the suspect.  During the fight, the suspect took the sergeant's Taser and tried to use it on him.  The deputy then shot the suspect.

The suspect has been identified as the homeowner, 53-year-old Gerald Wade Jensen.

Jensen was transported to a local hospital with life threatening injuries. The sergeant was taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Jensen's condition has since been upgraded to critical, but stable.
