Man critically wounded in drive-by shooting, witnesses uncooperativePosted: Updated:
PHOENIX – A man is in critical condition after he was hit three times in what could be a gang-related drive-by shooting.
It happened shortly after 4 a.m. in the area of 41st Avenue and McDowell Road.
The victim was shot three times, once each in the foot, the arm and the abdomen. According to an officer on the scene, that abdominal wound was through and through, which is why the victim was conscious and talking as he was taken to a local hospital.
There reportedly were two witnesses to the shooting, but those people were not cooperating with officers.
Investigators were trying to piece together what led up to the shooting and were considering the possibility that the shooting might have been gang-related.
At this point, police do not have a description of the suspect and they are not releasing any information about the victim.
Details will be updated as they become available.
