TUCSON, Ariz. -- Former Tucson Police Chief Bernard Garmire died last week in Phoenix. He was 96.
Chief from 1957 to 1969, Garmire launched a public battle to keep east coast mobsters from establishing a significant presence in the Old Pueblo.
