PHOENIX – One man is dead and the person who shot him is still on the loose.

The shooting happened Wednesday between 1 a.m. and 2 a.m. at Cheetahs, a gentlemen’s club at Seventh Street and Indian School Road.

According to police, Mack Curtis Hill had just left the strip club and was eating outside when the suspect walked up and shot him several times in the chest.

“He wasn’t moving at first and then he started gasping,” said Jay Ross, who was there and claims to have known the victim. “I asked officers and they confirmed he got hit with five or more rounds in his torso. They wouldn’t tell me the exact number.”

Hill, 38, was rushed to Good Samaritan Hospital where doctors pronounced him dead.

The gunman reportedly left the scene in a car, but officers do not have a description of it.

There are surveillance cameras covering the club’s parking lot, but investigators have not had the chance to look at that footage.

Friends told 3TV that Hill was a regular at Cheetahs.

At this point, detectives have not determined a motive. Investigators are talking to people who were at the club at the time of the shooting.

The suspect is described as a black male, 6 feet tall with a medium build. He was wearing a ball cap, black T-shirt and shorts at the time of the shooting.

Anyone with information about the shooting or the suspect is asked to call 602-262-6141 or Silent Witness at 480-WITNESS.
