Chemical fire at Tucson homePosted: Updated:
TUCSON, Ariz. -- A midtown Tucson man is in the hospital with life threatening chemical burns.
The chemicals started a fire at his home near Elm Street and Tucson Boulevard. Tucson Fire and Police responded and found him there.
"He had some severe chemical burns to his body, said that that occured at his residence here in midtown, there was also a small fire at this house, possibly related to the chemicals," said Sgt. Pete Dugan from the Tucson Police Department.
The incident caused one nearby resident to be evacuated. The house is secured for the night and some residents might need to be evacuated in the morning when the chemicals are removed.
