Monsoon break comingPosted: Updated:
PHOENIX -- It looks like we're headed into our first break in the monsoon.
As high pressure shifts to the east, our moisture plume shifts as well. Drier air is spreading into Arizona from the west and southwest, limiting storm chances over the next couple of days to the high country.
Under mostly sunny skies, afternoon high temperatures will stay below average through the workweek, peaking near about 104 degrees. Mostly clear skies mean overnight lows will be fairly cool, dipping to the 70s and low 80s.
A warm-up is in the weekend forecast, with thunderstorms possible Sunday.
