Sheriff nixes female chain gang plan for MLB All-Star game

PHOENIX – Sheriff Joe Arpaio has changed his mind about having a female chain gang near the MLB All-Star Game in Phoenix as a deterrent for driving drunk.
At a press conference promoting his new ‘Vamos Jose’ boxer shorts, the sheriff said he decided Monday not to go ahead with his chain gang plan and instead letting the kids enjoy the event and the fans focus on America’s favorite pastime, playing baseball.
The all-female chain gang is composed of women who volunteer to help clean the community. They have all been convicted of driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol.
Critics of the plan said they feared the inmates would portray a negative image of our city for tourists and television viewers.
