PHOENIX -- It was a stormy start to Monday with scattered thunderstorms and showers across the Valley.

Rainfall totals varied from about 0.5 inch of precipitation downtown and in much of the East Valley, to about 1 inch in Scottsdale.  Showers moved out by about 7a.m, but left cooler temperatures in the 70s.

With a cooler morning and a humid air mass in place, afternoon highs will struggle to reach the upper 90s this afternoon.  T

he chance of showers also continues throughout the day and evening hours.

There's a good chance of storms in the high country today with a flash flood watch in effect until this evening.

Starting tomorrow, a drier air mass moves in from the west, limiting storm chances to the eastern portions of the state for the rest of this week.
