GLENDALE, Ariz. – Neighbors say it sounded like a bomb when a truck slammed into both of their homes.

A driver lost control of his truck Friday morning near 63rd Avenue and Glendale. The truck slammed into the corner of one house and landing inside the home right next to it.

"It sounded like a bomb, it really did. I heard this big boom and I looked up and I saw all this stuff flying across the room," Marilyn, who did not want to provide her last name, said. She also says she feels blessed and grateful. "If I stand in the doorway, I can see outside to the truck."

Marilyn says the truck skidded across her front lawn, smacked her house then landed in her neighbors’ living room. "The gentleman was sitting near his fireplace and one of those cinderblocks went flying by his head. We are all very blessed," she says.

Gunther Herman says it's sheer luck he wasn't hit. "I just moved about a second before I saw a cloud of dust and these blocks that weigh 150 pounds, so if I didn't move in one or two seconds I would have been hit."

He heard it before he saw it. "Like a bomb and it was nothing but a cloud of dust inside.  I couldn't even see three feet in front of me."

Glendale police are investigating why the driver lost control. They are trying to determine whether he was impaired or suffered from a medical condition.

The driver and his son were taken to the hospital and are expected to be okay.
