Young man shot when he opened door of home, suspects on the loosePosted: Updated:
PHOENIX – Police are trying to determine who shot a young man at a North Phoenix home overnight.
It happened at about midnight in a relatively quiet neighborhood near 18th Street and Bell Road.
According to police, the victim noticed somebody outside the house. When he opened the door to investigate, several shots were fired. The victim reportedly was hit in the arm and the abdomen.
The 19-year-old Hispanic man, whose name has not been released, was rushed to a local hospital. His wounds reportedly were not life-threatening. He is expected to recover.
Police do not have a motive or a description of the suspect at this point, but they said the victim is acquainted with the shooter.
Officers on the scene said they were looking for a black pickup truck that reportedly was seen in the neighborhood around the time of the shooting.
No other details were immediately available.
