PHOENIX – The Maricopa County Sheriff's Office is asking for the public's help to identify and locate a suspect wanted for armed robbery and kidnapping.

The crime occurred on June 24 in the Anthem area.

According to sheriff's spokesman Jeffrey Sprong, the female victim was returning to her home near Memorial Drive and Gavilan Peak Parkway at approximately 6 a.m. when she noticed a white sedan behind her but did not think anything was out of the ordinary.

As she pulled into her driveway, she heard a tap on her window and saw a male holding a gun. He told her to stay in the car then got in the back seat and told her to drive to the Wells Fargo at Daisy Mountain Drive and Gavilan Peak where she withdrew $2,300 out of the ATM.

The suspect then spoke to someone on his cell phone. He reportedly told the victim to drive to the area of Bisbee Way and Meridian Road where he told her to get out of the car and took her cell phone.

Sprong said the suspect told the victim to stand and face a brick wall. As she did that, he was driven away in the same white sedan she saw earlier.

The suspect is described as a Hispanic male, approximately 5 feet 11 inches tall, 180 pounds, with brown hair and large brown eyes. He was last seen wearing black wire-rimmed glasses, black clothing, a black hat and a black-and-white bandanna.

The suspect was armed with a semiautomatic pistol, possibly a Glock, according to authorities.

He was last seen leaving the area in a white car, believed to be a Nissan Altima. The vehicle's windows were tinted black.

The sheriff's office released a sketch of the suspect on Tuesday. Anyone with information is asked to call 602-876-1000.
