Boy drowns during Fourth of July pool party in PhoenixPosted: Updated:
PHOENIX – A Phoenix boy drowned during a Fourth of July party days after his family moved into the home.
Police say they responded to a home near 35th Avenue and Baseline in Phoenix just after 6 p.m. on Monday in reference to a drowning call involving a 7-year-old boy.
The family had moved into the home four days ago and was hosting a pool party.
Investigators say there were 17 adults and 20 children present at the time of the incident.
The water in the pool had reportedly become murky, making it difficult to see inside.
The victim's older cousin pulled him out of the pool before he was transported to Phoenix Children’s Hospital where he died.
The pool had a fence around it but the adults told police they simply lost track of the child.
