Transformers: Meet the new girl

PHOENIX – Actress Meagan Fox shot to stardom in the first “Transformers” movie and was a centerpiece in the second one.

After some name calling toward director Michael Bay painted a less-than-flattering picture of what it was like to work for him, Fox was out as Shia LaBeouf's love interest, and Rosie Huntington-Whiteley was in.

British born Huntington-Whiteley is a Victoria’s Secret model. She’s been modeling since she was 16, but just became an official Victoria’s Secret “Angel” a couple of years ago.

She recently decided to make the leap from the runway to the big screen.

“You can really take a lot of things from modeling onto film,” she said. “But there are a lot of things that make it very different. What makes you a great model is being very self conscious of what you’re selling and your appearance. I think we see a lot of images where the women are very closed off, and strong and powerful. Moving onto a movie, especially a film like this, you have to open yourself and become vulnerable and project a sense of accessibility, which I think a lot of modeling campaigns don’t.”

While most of the time she’s dressed to the nines in the movie, Huntington-Whiteley did have the opportunity to get involved in the signature Michael Bay action. That included getting strapped into a harness and sliding down the floor in falling building.

“Although it was extremely scary, I actually really secretly loved every second of it,” she said.

“Transformers: Dark of the Moon” is in theaters now. It’s rated PG-13.
