Residents without air conditioning at Phoenix apartment complex

PHOENIX, Ariz. - What started as a scheduled maintenance turned into some Valley residents' worst nightmare.

Residents living in Fellowship Towers, a complex for low-income seniors, have been without air conditioning since early Thursday morning.

The complex is located near 3rd Street and Indian School Road.

Management says workers were supposed to replace chillers on the air conditiong units but ran into problems.

"It's probably 85 degrees, sweat rolls down you, you can't put any clothes on, you can't sleep. My dog is panting and I've got one of the coolest units. I'd hate to think what it's like in some of the units," one resident said.

Swamp coolers were brought into a recreation room inside the building where several residents have spent most of the day.

No word on when the air conditioning will be restored.
