Man accused of sexually assaulting girl in El Mirage

EL MIRAGE, Ariz. – Police officers arrested a 43-year-old man Wednesday for allegedly sexually assaulting a girl in El Mirage.

Mark Gomez Mireles was booked into the Fourth Avenue Jail for sexual abuse, sexual assault, kidnapping, sex conduct with a minor and aggravated assault.

El Mirage police officers interviewed the juvenile on June 25. The assault reportedly began in the 11700 block of West Soledad Street, which is near Thunderbird and El Mirage roads.

The victim told police that she was forced at gunpoint to enter a store where she was told to steal liquor. After leaving the store, Mireles reportedly assaulted her inside his vehicle at a nearby park.

Once she managed to escape, the victim was able to return to the Soledad home where she was staying.

Detectives investigated the girl's allegations and arrested Mireles on Wednesday.

The vehicle that was driven by Mireles was impounded by El Mirage detectives and will be processed for evidence.
