MESA, Ariz. – Police are looking for a man who committed armed robbery at a Mesa thrift store.

Officers responded to the Bakery Thrift Store located in the 800 block of E. University Drive on Wednesday at about 5:30 p.m. after receiving a call about an armed robbery.

The suspect allegedly entered the store and handed a worker at the cash register a note demanding money and stated he was carrying a gun.

As the employee was getting cash, a car pulled up with another customer and the suspect then verbally demanded the money.

He was able to flee northbound with an undisclosed amount of cash and was last seen running through the parking lot towards an alley.

Officers checked the alley and were able to locate footprints that led to where it appeared a vehicle had been parked.

During their investigation, officers spoke to a resident who stated he or she had seen a white older-model Ford Escort parked in the area.

Police say the footprints had some definition but it rained before they could be analyzed.

The store’s video monitoring system was not working so police could not recover surveillance footage.

The employee at the thrift store was able to provide enough information for a composite sketch of the suspect which has not been released by police. He is described as a white male in his 20s with brown hair combed down in front. He was last seen wearing a brown or green hoodie and blue jeans.
