Loughner forcibly medicatedPosted: Updated:
TUCSON, Ariz. -- The suspect in the January 8 mass shooting can be forcibly medicated.
That's what a federal judge decided Wednesday in an emergency hearing.
Jared Loughner reportedly was showing signs of violence in prison, spitting at and lunging toward his lawyer, and throwing chairs.
Judge Larry Burns says he doesn't want to second guess prison doctors and denied Loughner's lawyers' request to prevent it.
Loughner has been forcibly medicated now for 8 days.
