PHOENIX - After eight consecutive days of afternoon highs at or above 110 degrees, the Valley will top out today at ONLY about 108 degrees.
The scorching heat returns tomorrow, with a Friday afternoon high of 112 degrees, and even hotter weather forecast for Saturday.
Afternoon highs are forecast to soar on Saturday, with the Valley peaking near 116 degrees, and parts of the state like Maricopa and Gila Bend potentially seeing highs near 120 degrees.
The National Weather Service has issued an excessive heat watch for the Valley from Friday morning through Sunday night. By Sunday, temperatures will start to come down a few degrees as humidity levels rise.
Fourth of July celebrations will be hot and humid, with highs forecast near 110 degrees and a slight chance of thunderstorms.
