Man who killed 9-year-old girl in 1988 is executedPosted: Updated:
FLORENCE, Ariz. (AP) -- A man convicted of molesting and fatally bludgeoning a 9-year-old girl in 1988 has been executed.
Forty-nine-year-old Richard Lynn Bible received a lethal injection Thursday morning at the state prison in Florence after being on death row for more than two decades.
The 49-year-old failed to win any of his appeals. Most recently, he asked an appeals court and the U.S. Supreme Court to delay his execution for DNA testing on hairs used as evidence in his trial.
Arizona's clemency board also denied a reprieve or commutation Monday after one board member called him "the worst of the worst."
Bible was convicted of kidnapping and killing Jennifer Wilson, of Yuma, while she was on vacation with her family in Flagstaff.
He's the 90th inmate Arizona has executed since 1910, and the 25th to die by injection.
