Groundbreaking for new wastewater treatment facility on Tucson's west sidePosted: Updated:
TUCSON, Ariz. -- Out with the old and in with the new.
A ground breaking ceremony for a brand new wastewater treatment facility happened Tuesday near Sweetwater Drive just west of I-10. The new plant will replace the old one built back in the 1950s.
"This will be a state of the art facility that will have tremendous odor control, noise and estectics to upgrade what we do here in Pima County," said Jackson Jenkins.
Now it'll take some time for the new $215 million facility to be built. It's slated to become fully operational by January, 2015.
