6 Local restaurants slated to open at Phoenix Sky Harbor Intl AirportPosted: Updated:
PHOENIX -- Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport is already known as "America's friendliest airport," but soon it also will be known for its great food.
Foodie David Tyda of EaterAZ.com sat down with Tara Hitchcock to chat about some of the restaurants that will be opening soon in Terminal 4, the international terminal.
There are already some pretty good food choices at the airport, but the options are about to get exponentially better.
Tyda said he usually cuts it pretty close when he travels, but that might soon change.
"I might actually start getting there early just so I can have lunch or dinner," he said. "Gone are the days of that muffin that's been in the cellophane for 10 years."
The well-known eateries that will soon grace Terminal 4 include Olive & Ivy, Sauce, Cowboy Ciao, Barrio Café, Chelsea's Kitchen and La Grande Orange.
The food at these restaurants is is not only more healthful, hipper and more gourmet than standard airport fare, it's also created by local companies.
According to Tyda, the restaurants are hoping to keep the prices at their airport locations the same as at their regular locations.
The restaurants are slated to open over the next two years. Some will be located before the security checkpoints, while the rest will be inside the secured area.
