Burglar showers in house before trying to flee in SurprisePosted: Updated:
SURPRISE, Ariz. – A burglary suspect was arrested after allegedly breaking into two homes and showering in one of them before trying to escape.
Police responded to the 16300 block of N. Fox Hill Drive Saturday morning after receiving a call about a burglary in progress.
Officers learned there were three juveniles in the home at the time of the burglary. They reportedly told police the burglary suspect took a shower in the home before realizing there were occupants inside the house.
During their investigation Surprise police discovered the suspect had forced his way into a neighboring home.
When police tried to approach the suspect, identified as 36-year-old Jimmy Phillips, he tried to flee in a stolen bicycle but was arrested a short time later.
Police say a woman and her two children also occupied the second home allegedly burglarized by Phillips.
None of the victims involved in both burglaries were injured.
Phillips is being held at the Fourth Avenue Jail and faces two counts of burglary, theft, unlawful use of means of transportation and possession of stolen property.
