Preserving historic Tucson neighborhood

TUCSON, Ariz. -- A conference Tuesday afternoon looked for ways to keep and preserve historic pieces of downtown Tucson.

A panel of local and state leaders including heritage alliances, and preservationist came to talk about how to keep downtown Tucson and other city centers from fading away.

"It's about how to preserve in a way that is voluntary but in a way that support the local economy.  So, we'll have presentations about heritage tourism and how that supports the economy, how to use heritage assets to support the economy," said Vanessa Bechtol from the Santa Cruz Valley Heritage Alliance.

Some of the issues discussed have been problems that Tucson has dealt with for the past 30 years.
