CHANDLER, Ariz. - A man is in police custody after attempting to steal copper from a repair truck.

According to Chandler police, just after noon on Friday, Sean Boskie, 25, attempted to steal copper from a Salt River Project truck parked near the Loop 101 and Ray Road.

SRP said this truck had been burglarized two other times within the past month.

Boskie was wearing a ski mask when he allegedly attempted to steal the copper from an SRP worker trying to repair electrical lines and equipment during power outages and emergencies.

Chandler police and SRP have been working together to stop copper theft as they are very costly crimes.

Chandler police said the crimes cause thousands of dollars in damage anytime copper is stolen from public area, boxes, lights and other locations.

They want the public to know if you see a suspicious person around or attempting to access electrical boxes, enclosures or underground wiring boxes, call the police immediately.
