MESA, Ariz. – Three suspects were arrested after detectives saw two of them running from a Mesa robbery scene Friday night.
At approximately 9:40 p.m., detectives in an unmarked vehicle saw two males run from an apartment complex and jump into a waiting vehicle, according to Detective Steve Berry with the Mesa Police Department.
The detectives started following the vehicle then heard a report of a robbery in the area. The victim reported that she had been held at gun- and knifepoint and robbed of her purse and cell phone.
The description of the robbery suspects matched the two males and the detectives detained them. The victim's wallet, purse and cell phone were located in their possession.
Berry said the victim was able to identify one of the suspects as being involved.
The two males were identified as Tywinn Crawford, 18, and a 17-year-old, whose name was not released. Police said Amanda Courtney, 21, was the driver. They were each charged with one count of armed robbery.
"This was a good example of alert officers in the right place at the right time," Berry said.
