TEMPE, Ariz. - Tempe police have identified the suspect in a fatal stabbing Saturday evening.

Jimmie Donald Jr., 34, of Mesa, was taken into custody as he was trying to flee from the scene.

Detectives identified the two victims in the incident as Dexter Donald Jr., 29, the nephew of the suspect, and Brent Hatathlie, 29, a friend of the suspect.

Both victims were transported to the hospital for treatment, but Dexter died from the injuries he sustained in the fight.

Hatathlie's injuries are non-life threatening.

Tempe police responded to a report of the stabbing around 7:30 p.m. in the 2000 block of E. University Drive.

A motorcycle officer spotted Jimmie's vehicle leaving the apartment complex where the stabbing occurred and was able to stop him and take him into custody.

Jimmie faces one count of second degree murder.

Hatathlie is not pressing charges, so no other charges are being added at this point for that stabbing.

Police believe a domestic dispute led up to the stabbings.
