Tucson police report: House fire; Body found; Downtown shooting

TUCSON, Ariz. -- Three people escaped an early afternoon fire at a house in midtown.

It happened just after noon on Lee Street, a block west of Stone. The people living there made it out alive.

The fire started near an electrical panel on the home. The damage is estimated to be at least $5,000.

TUCSON, Ariz. -- The body of a 22-year-old woman was discovered shortly after midnight on Tucson's north side.

The body was found in an alley near Fairview close to I-10.

Police say it doesn't look like a murder. They'll know the cause for sure when toxicology results come in.

TUCSON, Ariz. -- Tucson police have released the names of the officers involved in Wednesday's standoff that ended with a man shot and killed.

Officers Thomas Rizzi, Jennifer Galaida, James Wakeman, and Jobe Dickinson, along with Lieutenant Danny Denogean, fired their weapons at the man they said came toward them with a knife.

Police say they were there to arrest the 43-year-old man on charges of abusing and sexually assaulting an 8-year-old girl. His name has not yet been released.
