Warm and windy weekendPosted: Updated:
PHOENIX -- Warm and windy weather continues to plague the West this weekend. Red flag warnings are in effect today for the high country of Northern and Eastern Arizona.
Near the firelines of three major fires burning in Arizona, winds are expected out of the southwest at 20 to 30 mph, with gusts of up to 45 mph possible. Those gusty conditions are expected today through Monday, with the strongest winds expected on Sunday.
In the Valley, look for breezy conditions. Winds should be out of the southwest at 15 to 25 mph today and this weekend.
Several areas of low pressure will brush by us to the north, bringing not just stronger winds, but slightly cooler temperatures. Under sunny skies, Valley highs will top out this afternoon and tomorrow near 104, but near only 101 on Father's Day Sunday.
Summer officially starts next Tuesday, with the summer solstice happening at 10:16 a.m.
