NASA vehicle makes stop in Tucson

TUCSON, Ariz. -- A piece of the future of deep space exploration made a stop in Tucson Wednesday.

This is a multi-purpose crew vehicle, which was a full scale flight test vehicle used in a flight test in New Mexico last year. The test was successful.

"The Orion spacecraft is the follow-on spacecraft for the space shuttle. We're looking at a variety of missions to go beyond lower orbit, and we're looking forward to our next major test in 2013," said MPCV Integration Manager Melvin Friant.

The spacecraft will be in Tucson through Thursday at the Pima Air and Space Museum before heading to the Kennedy Space Center in Florida.
