Tucson police shoot and kill sex assault suspectPosted: Updated:
TUCSON, Ariz. -- Tucson police, shot and killed a man in downtown Tucson Wednesday afternoon.
At 4:30 officers went to a house on Stone Avenue near 14th Street, to arrest a man on charges of sexually assaulting and abusing an 8-year-old girl.
Police say the man refused to come outside, then said he wanted to commit suicide by cop.
"The male exited with a weapon, posing a threat, and several officers fired their duty weapons striking and later killing the man," said Sgt. Diana Lopez from the Tucson Police Department.
Several people witnessed the shooting. His name isn't being released until family is told of his death.
