Melody Skiver, UA Cooperative Extension, SCC, says lifestyle choices greatly influence the health of people, families and communities. The U of A Arizona Cooperative Extension office in SCC offers programs promoting these values. She says at the high school level, the focus is on nutrition and exercise. She says programs focus on showing teens why exercise alone isn’t necessarily going to make you “healthy.” She says the value of nutritional food is explained, while at the same time letting kids know an “occasional” visit to a fast food place is okay.
